Last month I had the awesome opportunity to attend SXSW in Austin, Texas with my sister Jessica and the Sperry team (btw, these are my absolute favorite pair of shoes right now. I've been wearing them every day because they are sooo comfy). Surprisingly, this was my first trip to SXSW and to Texas! I loved Austin...the city was full of things to see, but more importantly, things to eat! We also had perfect weather while we were there, and just happen to miss the stormy weather.
I'm a total procrastinator (I mean, who doesn't work better under a time crunch?) and I made the terrible decision to pack right before our trip. The part that made that a really bad idea was the fact that I also moved into our new apartment the day before our trip (in the rain I might add). Of course everything was in boxes and I was rummaging through everything like crazy trying to find my stuff right before our flight. I could barely find enough stuff to put together one outfit so Jessica and I had to make a quick pit stop at the mall when we first arrived so I had some clothes to wear (terrible, I know lol).
One of the things Austin is famous for is all the wall murals. People go on scavenger hunts for all the murals, but if you explore the city enough on foot you pretty much come across all of them! There's always a crowd of people taking pics with them.
The South Congress neighborhood is by far my favorite area. There are so many great restaurants , food stands, bars, etc. it is always so fun to walk around and explore. On one of the first days we ate at Torchy's Tacos and I couldn't help but eat their tacos every chance I had after that. I'm sure there are a ton of great taco places to try, but there were just too many places to eat at and too little time!
We of course had to stop at the popular boot shop on South Congress and the famous Uncommon Objects antiques shop. And not pictured is the candy store that we stopped by one too many times! (If you saw my snapchat during the trip you would have seen me snacking away on my hot tamales all night).
We ended the trip with a lovely bike ride along the river and a delicious dinner from Hoppdoddy burger bar (definitely worth the wait!).
